Kill Switch Protest

Much ado about nothing would not be apropos in this matter. In fact, there should be more of an uproar in the news, facebook, etc. http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-s3480/text This is the page with the actual bill as it stands now. The language is vague.

Commonly known as The Kill Switch, the government is trying to enact a bill that would give them the right to create a super agency that would govern the internet and all of its infrastructure. It gives them the ability to shut down the internet and over see all aspects of the internet, and in the language of the bill, would be "including programmable electronic devices and communications networks and any associated hardware, software, or data."

Not only are they asking to set up a completely new agency, they want it to "oversee" all other agencies that are part of the internet infrastructure, like the Department of Defense, military, etc. It's not just about some hacker might get on. It even contains provisions to allow it shut down if it perceives any threat MIGHT happen.

Again, language is vague, except where it pertains to the power it has.

Yahoo is currently fighting to keep emails private. They have been ordered by a law enforcement agency to turn over emails without a warrant. Apparently, and I am looking for this rule after reading this article, after a small length of time, opened emails are considered public domain by the government. I will share more here as I find it.

However, I think everyone needs to be aware and vote this down. Not only can the money be better used elsewhere, we need to not close up an avenue of free speech. What if I get a huge following regarding this issue and the government decides its too inflammatory? Under the new bill, they could shut me down. They could say I'm a terrorist because I am dissenting. One of the backers has been quoted as saying that China has something like it. China? Really? We all know how well China deals with protesters and free speech rights. Just ask all those students...

Rebellion on Piza 7 contest

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002B548GY For super cheap version of my Rebellion on Piza 7, order it on kindle. :) I have recently had sales and didn't even know it LOL!

I have an idea. If I get a hundred in sales by end of July, I will give out a hardback copy of Rebellion on Piza 7, or another book if you already have a Hard copy of it :D

So tell your friends to buy it on kindle. It's only 1.29. Or buy it hardback! I will count both amounts in sales for contest. However, if you purchase hardback by amazon, you will have to send me copy of reciept as it wont show up on my sales log for 2-3 months. The kindle I can see by middle of next month.

Post a comment if you buy it and I will give you an extra entry into the contest

Lately

I've been writing. Obviously. Well, maybe not so obviously when you consider the rest of my life. Along with the writing, I've been promoting my book, Rebellion on Piza 7, my husband's play, which is almost over, and sending out queries on the fantasy I finished.

Plus, as my funds are limited like almost everyone I know, I've been trying to win books that are new releases or part of a series. For research, don't you know. Have to know what's on the market, it is a happy bonus that I like to read as well. ;)

So, although my word count is under 2k yesterday, and so far today, I have gotten things accomplished that are necessary.

And in case there is still any question, I do not have a PR manager, or any other type of manager or marketing person. It's just me. LOL I'm trying to get my husband to be the manager, you know, like Laurel K Hamilton's is hers, but so far, not happening. Maybe when I get a few more titles under my belt...

double day

I think I am excited by my book signing, judging by how many posts I did on it :)

Hubby sick, daughter and son not felling great, although I think they have "spring fever" with a dash of "senioritis" thrown in for my daughter.

I'm fighting depression, not very well at this point, as the anniversary of my brother's death gets closer and closer. Since his (Timmy)birthday in February, I've been having unexpected crying fits and the whole he's left in my life has become more and more apparent.

I was adopted. Timmy was first baby born after that and he was my connection to the adopted family. Two of my sisters were adopted with me, but they were younger. I was ten. A hard age to be adopted at. I feel as if I've been severed from the family in a way that can't be fixed. Writing and painting has saved me from uncontrolled depression more than once these last few months.

Well, I best get to writing and hope I hit it big before graduation... All that senior stuff!

BOOK SIGNING!

YEAH YEAH YEAH

Another book signing :) This time we are back in the good old US of A (just kidding as last one was in TX) in Yakima WA at the local Borders.

May 8th, the Saturday befor mother's day. I will be convincing them to try a unique gift LOL.

I am working on getting contact info for the Tri-cities Barnes and Nobles since there isn't a Borders there. That keeps it even anyways, since it was at Barnes and Nobles in San Antonio LOL

Stay tuned!

(PS Publish or Bust is updated more :D)

So I found some of my missing pages. Still missing the all crucial initial meeting between my hero and heroine. :( oh well, I can continue from here and hope to find them soon...

I will also be participating in script frenzy... Call me crazy, LOL. Winds of fire needs less back story and more dialogue and an ending. How better to do that than turn it into a script to fix those errors. Major problem is the format. I'm not familiar with the format. Even though I have a base story to work from (at least thats my plan, I may change it, like I did for NaNoWriMO) I still have to learn how to do it right.

Mainly, this will give me the writing time I need and get back into the habit. I had good habits going because of NaNoWriMo, but then we moved and I didn't have internet and got stuck on all my stories for lack of easy research.

With our schedule, sick kids and a 17 month old, easy research is a must! lol

I need to get two stories out for a publisher, though, so I may have to use script frenzy for that. Hmmm, so many choices! Well, off to do my rituals that I had before and write, write, write. :D

Have a great day!

PS for an idea of what script frenzy will be like, read over Novembers blogs, and to follow Script Frenzy, follow me on my other blog.

Rebellion on Piza 7

It's been exciting for me lately as more and more people are reading my book :D

I'm going to be talking to English/Literature classes in local high schools because a student whose mom is a principal read my book, Rebellion on Piza 7! I'm thrilled to death. And nervous as hell lol Wish me luck!

Drama

I got away two days in a row. Can you believe it?? :D

My family is in a tight spot but we've been there before. Things are going to get better as soon as I get my tax return in. If I ever get my stubs. They were sent to address in Texas, but people living there say they didn't get them grrrrrrr. The one set was sent out before the new year!! My brother got his early on. GRRRR

I hate Drama in my personal life, yet, I can't seem to get away from it. Even if I don't know it's going on at the time, I figure it out eventually. It ticks me off because I have enough real drama (kids with asthma and a Down Syndrome baby to start with!) that I don't need any made up crap from people whose lives are apparently too boring because everything is going too well.

Okay, now that I got that rant out of my system, let us continue on happier veins. Despite matching the wrong markings, I'm getting a costume I started ages ago finished. It probably wont fit me anymore, but I'm going to finish it anyway and lose the weight so I can wear it this spring :)

I love how things are getting finished. It feels good to get things accomplished. Nate sewed an apron I had bought a few years ago for him to bbq with. Another project finished. I only helped with ironing and a tiny bit of sewing. It was a project he mainly did on his own. He is quite good at it.

Well, I have to get back to writing. Lots of corrections to make and new stories to write.

Washington

I love being in Washington! I wish things weren't so stressful while we look for jobs and stuff but otherwise, it's good to be back in my home state! I still don't have internet access at home, though, so I'm ready to go nuts.

Writing is starting to kick in as we get somewhat settled. However, I still can't find losts of the stuff I left here, so it's stressing me out a bit. I'm glad I'm getting to write again though. it feels good.

Wish me luck :)
